Sonia Rivera, L.Ac.

For over 20 years, Sonia has worked in the field of holistic healing as a student and practitioner and has been devoted to bringing her nurturing and compassionate support to all her patients, both adults, teens and children, guiding them towards health and wellness. Sonia is an Acupuncturist, Shamanic Practitioner and also certified in Alchemical Healing, Advanced cupping therapy, foot reflexology, Reiki master under the lineage of Grandmaster Takata, and Flower essence therapy.

Consultations are tailored to the needs of the individual offering deep innovative therapeutic approaches such as acupuncture, Reiki, cupping therapy, intuitive healing, massage, foot reflexology, aromatherapy and flower essence therapy. Specialties include infertility, chronic pain, sports injuries, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, insomnia and migraines.

Using Traditional Chinese medicine in conjunction with state of the art reproductive care, Sonia has helped hundreds of couples that have struggled with conception go on to have healthy babies. Drawing from current research protocols and her own comprehensive clinical experience, Sonia’s treatments can significantly enhance reproductive potential in both males and females. Her training has included some of the world’s top infertility experts, including Dr. Randine Lewis, author of The Infertility Cure, Debra Betts, author of The Essential Guide to Acupuncture in Pregnancy and Childbirth and Giovanni Maciocia, a renowned author and master of Chinese Medicine.

Sonia has studied extensively with and taught along side her colleague and friend Matt Callison, M.S. L.Ac., an expert in Sports Medicine, author of the guidebook Motor Point Index and Manual and workbook on Energetics of Structural Balance and utilizes her vast knowledge in treatment of acute and chronic pain with orthopedic acupuncture and advanced cupping therapy.

Other studies included originator of Pachakuti Mesa Cross-Culture Puruvian Curandero Oscar Miro-Quesada and Susan Lipshultz of Everyday Medicine Woman, tapping into ritual, movement, ceremony, prayer, earth-honoring traditions, talking circles, and integrating the divine feminine into everyday life.  She continues her studies with The Four Winds Academy.

Sonia served on the Board of Directors and is an active member of the Illinois State Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ILSACU) and American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). She is bilingual, fluent in both Spanish and English.

Sonia Rivera is a licensed Acupuncturist in the State of Illinois and board certified by National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).  She received her Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine (M.S.T.O.M.) from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California, which included an advanced course of study and clinical internship in Nanjing, China
